Question: M37 Towing hitch
Evening all
I have found a towing hitch/pintle for my Dodge and was wondering what size bolts I will need to mount the new toy?
Thanks in advance

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
Use at least grade 5 bolts, I would use grade 8 if you can find them.

thanks for the replies. So looking at this image I need parts B. C, D & E to mount the hitch properly.
best start hunting for those elements then...

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
Paul,
Also worth noting that part "D" mounts on the front side of the rear crossmember. such that most of it is not visible when properly installed

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
I see. So part E and the actual hitch can rotate? is this to aid in cross country usage?
Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
Paul,
Yes, that exactly it. Tanner just listed one in the swap meet. Willingness and cost to ship may be a big question.

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
no harm in asking I suppose. Many thanks.
Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
What is needed depends on whether your truck is a M37 or a B1 since most B1s had the pintle bolted directly to the rear cross member without the swivel hardware but it's really up to how you want to do it.

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
mine is a 1953 model
Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
OK Paul, to be 100% correct a 1953 model would need everything shown in the drawing.

Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
Thanks for the info
Re: Question: M37 Towing hitch
I have the whole thing less the bolts I'll let you have for free if you pay the shipping. Only thing is the threads on part E are buggered up and will need to be rethreaded.
M37s are HMMWV in my world!
