Northeast dipping facility?

Post by spainex »

Anyone know of a dipping facility in the Northeast? I want to have my cab dipped rather than sand blast it and have had no luck finding one.

I guess one would call it chemical immersion or bath to remove paint and rust.I heard tell of a place in Worcester Mass. but all leads went cold.

Get a copy of the latest Hemmings. It's a wealth of information for people who are into buying/selling/restoring antique and collector vehicles of all sorts. There are bound to be a few folks in your area who offer the service you need, and they will surely advertise in Hemmings! If you can't find one (it's a really thick advertising magazine), try calling someplace like White Post Restorations in Virginia and asking for a recommendation.

my truck is in NH too, but I had heard good things about this place. It's a sandblasting outfit though. I have heard mixed reviews of dipping, mostly that it's hard to get all the chemicals out of the seams which then leaks out and can ruin your paint job. A lot of extra work is required to flush out all the chemicals.

Monkeymissile,I have been there many times as it is close by,as a matter of fact the owner Burt has my radiator for repair or recore. He started business with a radiator shop and has moved to doing indoor sandblasting. I have since set up to do my own sandblasting but I want my cab dipped as there are spots that cannot be reached by blasting. From what I understand in the dipping process the cab is dipped in the chemical agent then dipped in a neutralizing agent (ie-water)and flash rust inhibitor.

Has anybody checked with Fred at Adirondack Dodge, or George at Vermont Commerical Salvage for a lead?

Hello Everybody, And while reading these posts I do remember going to a electrical motor repair shop where they had lye tanks . They rewound 1000 horse power and larger motors there and so thier Lye tanks were large enough for reslly big stators and rotors. This was in New York , of course. PERHAPS SUCH A SHOP WOULD DIP AUTO BODY PARTS?

Tobey,

Forgot to say thanks for lending me the books. I dropped them off at your house the other night with a CD-ROM.

I'd love to see how you're progressing. Let me know when you're going to be at Franks.
