Tim,
Have you searched over on steelsoldiers? There have been a few threads about mufflers on the deuces. I just run mine stock since I like to hear the whistle from the C turbo, even with ear plugs   :D .

Hey Paul! I'll take a tour of the "Steel Soldiers" and see what I can find! Good tip!

Any muffler is ok as long as it is the correct 3.5" ID or larger inlet and outlet, and DOES NOT have a center baffle. It must be of a straight through design, which will make very little difference in noise levels; to me it isn't worth the trouble and expense. I have one here now that came in last week that had a muffler installed with a baffle, and the outlet is sized down to 2". It has a hole burnt in the top of a piston as a result. The multifuel engines have small exhaust valves, and if any mod at all is done that restricts exhaust flow, you will have trouble sooner than later; you can take that to the bank.

Thank You Charles!!!!!!!
I will call my Buddy Rex and pass this along to him. I think it sounds fine, but then I'm sort of a "diesel-dummy" anyway!

Tim, I had an M35A2 come in with the engine shipping on 2 cylinders the other day. I noticed up front that a muffler had been added, this particular one had a center baffle in it, and the outlet pipe was reduced down to 2" which is 1.5" under the stock pipe diameter. This little modification obviously done by someone who didn't have a clue caused a blown rear head gasket and a hole burned in the top of a piston when the new owner went full bore on the interstate for several hours on his way home.

I thought of this thread when we went into this one. Adding a muffler into the system of a multifuel engine just ain't the smartest thing.

Thanks Charles & Crew!!
My Buddy Rex did install a muffler, but I really think it's more of a resonator. Regardless, you can look right straight through the center with no obstructions!! Sort of like looking in one of my ears and out the other side!! :D Nothing inside to block the hot air flow!

He should be ok as long as the pipe diameter is the same as original or larger; however I imagine if his wife thinks it is a quieter ride now, that is just all in her mind, but then sometimes a mindset is all it takes.
