decal/sticker locations

Post by Cav Trooper »

I just got my bridge decal for the right door and a driver and radio sticker for the dash. Now, does anyone have a picture of where they go? I especially need the dimensions for the bridge decal.

Thanks,

Hi CT,

Not sure if this is going to answer the mail or not.....but I got this door a few weeks back at the MTA meet in Jersey. The guy didn't want to take it home so I made him an offer he COULD refuse........but he didn't. For $30 I figured it was worth the glass, which was good. It's a bit too rusty on the bottom for what I want, but it will look cool hanging on the wall in my workshop. Anyway, it looks like the yellow bridge insignia, which is painted on, is on the original layer of green paint.......so it might be original. But I have no history on this door, so who knows what's been done to it over the last 60 years.

Hopefully you can make out the dimensions in the pics, but if not the yellow circle is exactly 6 inches in diameter. The top of the circle is 1 1/2 inches from the top of the door and the side of the circle facing forward is 3 1/4 inches from the hinge cutout in the door skin. The bottom of the yellow circle is exactly 7 1/2 inches from the top of the door. The number "4" is exactly 3 inches tall and 2 1/4 inces wide.

I've seen other M37s with these bridge numbers on the door and many had a larger black number 4 than what appears on this door. Again, I can't guarantee this bridge number is original........but it looks like it to me.

regards,
bob

That will work great. Thanks. Now for the dash stickers, anyone? The one is the good driver and the other states to turn off all radio equipment before shut down.

Thanks again,

I'm not sure on the good driver because I've seen them in a half dozen locations and I don't think there was a standard for them. Just find a good place where it fits and the driver can see it to be remided to be a good driver. The radio sticker goes next to the Off-On Ignition Switch. This is to remind the person starting the truck to make sure the radio is off before turning the motor over on the truck. Again no real direction on where it goes just so it's clearly visable next to the ingition switch. On M151s we use to put them either right above the switch or right below. Since my dash is all torn apart on my truck I can't tell you put it here or there.

Well somehow I missed the last post with the good driver location. No matter, but, the only place I could find with enough realestate to place the sticker was on the vertical section of the defroster vent on the passenger side. The sticker fits like it was made to be there. Too far away for the driver to read unless he was paying attention which we never did anyway. I don't ever recall seeing any stickers about radios, good driving etc. on any M37 I ever drove in the Army. Of course as I stated above, we didn't pay any attention, just hop in and drive. Other than a military driver's license which I had in Ft. Hood, I never had one issued in Germany or Nam. Germany I was a courier for most of the time and the Colonial's driver drove me in the sedan, '64 Plymouth on all of my courier runs, 3 times a week, with .45 lock and load on my hip. Not bad duty. Nam we just ran the 3/4's up and down the flight line as haulers, ie; people and equipment for the Hueys.
