Is This an M37 Part ??

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

Saw a guy sell this on Ebay today as an M37 Shift Boot. I've got a lot of M37 manuals on CD that I haven't had time to go thru yet, but the one parts manual I looked at so far only has the early Federal Stock Numbers and not the NSNs or part numbers. So I can't cross check the shift boot part number in my manual (7703037) against the NSN for this part, which is 2530 21 104 4223. It also doesn't look exactly like the boot in the pic in my manual, which looks more tapered. Looks like it came out of London....so maybe it's for a British M37? (Just kidding!!) So is this really an M37 shift boot? Is it worth the $33 it sold for?

thanks,
bob

Bob,

Its most likely a Canadian Stock number. If its for a M37, I would say it would have to be a M37 CDN. They used a different transmission than the US version.

Bob,
It does not look familiar to me. All of the shifter boots I have seen for the M37 are nothing like this. The cap for the tranny p/n 7703037 is much smaller and tapered as you said, and the floorpan shifter dust boot is also tapered with a slot. I have never come across a parts tag like that, more likely this is a Rover part or something?
No telling with whats on eBay, you could post a toilet plunger and call it an M37 CV shaft , no doubt somebody would bid

Glad that was cleared up because I was going to say to me it looked like the inner transmission boot on a M151. But now we know I would have been wrong. :)

It is from a Canadian M37. I used one on my truck, and it works well. I used it in conjunction with the rubber grommet that goes around the sheetmetal tunnel cover.

I learned something, I never knew the CDN were different in transmission configuration
