Douglas to Packard?

Post by knattrass »

OK - got my new harness from Sid. Great shape with Douglas connectors. Sid gave me a secret decoder sheet to enable matching the wire number to his wire color scheme. We are picking off the original pigeon tag wire numbers, cleaning them and installing. We changed the rear lamps to the larger humvee rear 4 wire lights which has male Packards. So, instead of chopping up the harness, I slid off the metal shell, ferrell, and rubber of the Douglas leaving only the pin. Then I slid on a Packard male and e-clip onto the vehicle side of the harness. I now have 2 Packard male connectors staring at each other. I then found a Packard headlight connector that has 2 females (this is the one that squeezes into the grommet on the headlamp bucket). I ordered and should have them late in the week. Hopefully - I can maintain the original harness and restore it IF a puriest wants to buy after I'm dead.
