Be very careful not to use a cleaning product with chlorine!! When chlorine hits gas it will explode!

That's a very good point, I'd also be very conscious of any disposal method you would need to implement for any cleaning chemicals you use also. Some of that stuff you do not want in the wrong place. I'd always choose a professional solution to cleaning the tank (radiator shop) over doing it at home if possible. I know around here having a tank boiled is $30, not so bad.
