Hi Guys,
I've got the original vacuum wiper motors in my truck and I want to know how to operate them manually. I see there's a little ball on a stick on the top that I would guess you pull out? I've done that but I can't seem to turn the handle and I don't want to force it. Should the ball on the sick "click" into position, as in maybe I'm not pulling it out all the way? Or am I totally off base here. I looked all thru the TM9-840 and it doesn't say anything about wipers.
thanks,
bob
How to Manually Operate the Wipers?

Re: How to Manually Operate the Wipers?
You shouldn't have to pull the knob out to move the lever by hand. It should move relatively easily. More than likely the internals are all gummed up with hardened old grease and who knows what else. I carefully disassembled mine and cleaned it up with solvent. Then I put it back together with some fresh grease on the paddle inside. This got mine working well enough to show people that they work. I don't know if rebuild kits are available or not, as this wasn't a priority for me. I currently have no plans for driving in the rain or snow, and if I change my mind later, I'll probably go to electric motors.

There's a company that does the rebuilds on our wipers, check 'em out.

Re: How to Manually Operate the Wipers?
There is a longer know/thumb latch for manual operation, the smaller ball knob is the activation knob, pull out for on, push in to turn off. These vac wypers are terrible at best. Like Brett, I don't plan on any snow or rain maneuvers. Do you have the wyper's hooked up to your manifold?
