Headlight/Blackout Light Switch Question

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

The three lever headlight/blackout light switch is missing from the M37 I'm buying. I see there are quite a few listed on Ebay, both new and used, that say they are for the M37 but these all have one big multi-pin connector on the upper rear of the switch. Looking at the Army TM it shows the correct switch to have two smaller multi-pin connectors on the lower back of the switch, each angled at 45 degrees facing down. So I'm confused as to how the two switches can be interchangeable......wouldn't each need a unique harness.......or is there a conversion harness available to go from two connectors to one? Or maybe the two connector switch is for earlier M37's?

thanks,
bob

After serial # 80027855 all M37 light switches had a single connector on the back.

The 1951 M37's and M38's early, had the two plugs. Check your harness to see what you have and buy whichever. Vintage wiring of Maine sells new harnesses. They are pricey  . John

It's already on the list as:
May 1952 80027855 Trailer coupling receptacle on light switch discontinued.

Good? Just "experienced".

Here's a used, old-style switch out on eBay. Look carefully at the facing, as well as the dual plug....

Hi Gary,

Yeah, I found that one last night on Ebay. I bookmarked it and hopefully will get it. Now that you mention it.....the difference between this style and the latter one is very apparent!

thanks,
bob
