Re: fuel pump
Let me know how you make out. I've got a rebuilt pump I've been holding off putting on until the weather and my disposition get better. If you got your rebuild kit from Then and Now you should be ok. My understanding is that the ethanol will get to anything eventually it's just there is currently a more resistant material than what what used years ago. From what I'm told, you can try putting the pump in a vise (carefully!) and rig up a test line. Working the lever should pump the fuel if everything is ok. OTOH, I was also told it's easiest to just put the pump on the truck and try it.

Hey warren, thanks for the reply. I didnt rebuild or buy a kit, it was on the truck, I took it off because I wanted to go electric but changed my mind. How easy is that rebuild kit? why not send me a pvt. mess. maybe I can purchase yours. I wont put it in a vise...I will mount it and try it. VT

Re: fuel pump
Installing a pump with unknown internals is a BAD idea. The only way to know unless you have known truthful history on the pump is to tear it down and rebuild it with known compatible parts. A diaphragm that is not compatible with today's fuel can and will easily crack dumping raw gas directly into the oil. That will destroy the engine in a couple of minutes of operation with diluted oil. Your engine is not a fuel pump test stand, not at all wise to use it as such.
Your choice to use an electric pump was actually a better idea. A mechanical pump can fail and leave you stranded while dumping gas in the oil and destroying your engine. An electric pump can also fail and leave you stranded, however it will never dump gas into your oil pan if it is installed and set up correctly. Which is the lesser risk?

Re: fuel pump
Charles, Thanks for your support... I think I am back to square one again. I dont know how to set up the pump, wire it,regulate it, switch it,and where the hoses go and filter it. (did I forget anything) Try to understand my son and I are doing this as a project together we both dont know really what we are doing. I know it sounds crazy but I need to share some moments with him. This was our choice I started him with a small dream, it worked and now he wanted a military truck to move his stuff around, I am the driver for him hes 15.(last week was his birthday) Sooooooooo this is where we are at. Re: fuel pump
Hey VT
I went the electric pump route also and can honestly say it is NOT a difficult modification to make.
If you would like me to take any photos of my setup or anything else that can help, just shout.
Cheers
