New Guy

Post by 52 M-42 »

Hi All,

Just wanted to say hello, I'm a new member here. I'm not new to M-37 / M-42's though. I've had my current M-37 / M-42 for over 30 years now (and it is not my 1st M-37).
I'm just completing its second restoration.

I've been lurking for awhile and have reviewed all the old threads and read a lot of them. This is a very nice site with massive amounts of knowledge and experience. The trucks are just amazing too. I'm very glad I found this site.

I would upload a couple of pics but I seem to be having trouble getting the photos to load. At first they were too big, and now "the board attachment limit has been reached". I didn't even get to load any pics and I'm over the limit. :(

If someone will point me to the appropriate thread I'll head over to it and try to figure it out...........

52M-42 Welcome to the site. Funny you should sign up now. I just started a tear-down of my M-37/M-42 in the last day or so. Check out My M-37 Restoration thread in the Technical side. Mine is a 3-1953 DOD. Still has the 100 amp generator, rectifier, and 4 fanbelt setup. I am posting pictures by going the the "Pics" link at the top of the page next to "Home". It will talk you through how to post pics there. If you have any trouble just ask. We will be glad to help. We also like pics! I may be checking with you on some of the M-42 things. I think I will restore it to the M-42 side before it was transitioned back to an M-37. Where are you located?

I'm located in Washington state near Seattle. I'm happy to help you anyway I can with your restoration. My truck is just awaiting markings and then canvas and radios when it gets home. The restoration was done by Specialty Restorations in MN this time because I don't have either the place or the time. It was a complete frame off "re-manufacture" with ALL parts either new or rebuilt to as new condition. The truck is in the registry on page 17. The serial number is 80032578.

I tried going to that site "gallery" and I registered but I'm totally at a loss on how or where to post pics. I've got no idea how to find the M37 Gallery. All I can see is what looks like a chat room for web developers or code monkeys.

So if you feel like walking me through that site I would appreciate it.

Any questions about M-37s or M-42s I'm far more comfortable with.

So let me know.

Thanks!

At the top of this page there is a list of items to pic from. Home, pics, parts list, production dates, production changes, ets. Right click on Pics. It takes you to the gallery. If you want to post your own pics or album, look to the left of that page and you will see "add album" . Right click on that and you will have to fill out a few lines. You can post directly from your computer. You can only post so many photos at 1 time. I usually just post 6 or 7 then when it is finished, go back and add 6 or 7 more. Let me know if you need more help. By registry, where do you mean? I can't locate that page.

I'm at the add Sub-Album page and I have no idea what they mean by Name. They want to know the name of the "album" on my hard drive. Whatever name I put in there it doesn't like and says it is "invalid". The slashes in my path are all opposite of the one on the gallery page (I'm using Windows 7)

So what do I do now? Am I even on the right page?

The Registry is the home page for this site. If you click on M37 Registry below the M37 cartoon on the top of the page it will take you to the Registry section. You can then pick either Display Registry or Search Registry and it will take you to a specific truck. The serial number of my truck is 80032578. It is on page 17 about half way down. There are 2 pics of my truck there.

Found the registry. Forgot about that feature! As far as the sub album, I think I left it blank or named it the same. Never did figure out its purpose. Try that.
Got my bed totally disassembled except for the fuel filler neck and cover and the little attachments like reflectors. Reallly looking forward to getting it in good shape. Unfortunately, I had to cut all the phillip's head machine screws that hold the bed floor to the rest of the bed. It was dark when I finished so will have to wait and take pics and post at work tomorrow. Let me know if you have any more trouble with the album.

I'd love to post some pics, but not being very computer savy, I'm having a very rough time with the gallery app (or whatever it is). I did manage to get two photos into the registry (I think I'm record 779, on page 17, 80032578).

I'll try some more this weekend to get the gallery thing to work.

At least until I get too frustrated. :)

Have you tried starting a webshots account, after that it is simply cut and paste? (I add fotos but having two pages open at one time.)
