Connecting rod bearing size?

Post by Jared »

I have a worn bearing in my #6 connecting rod. Crank shaft appears to be stock diameter and clean.
Don't want to do anything major right now because it's below zero here in Alaska and I would like to get it up and going for firewood/plowing.
Looking online for a stock standard bearing set.
Confused on the sizing
Standard .01, .02, .03, 04. Refers to the amount over sized?
On old bearing only numbers are, f 8 64
Anyone know where I can buy standard con rod bearings, for my 230
Thanks, new here

Jared,

I don't recommend doing what you are suggesting, but I know sometimes you just need to do a field expedient repair to get by a little longer.

You are correct, it refers to the amount the bearings are oversized and you will need to Mic the crank to see what size it is.

You should call John at Midwest Military, he will have what you need.

GOOD MORNING FORM THE NE, TEMPS IN THE 50'S TODAY.
But anyhow I agree with the above, I had a #6 connecting rod bearing failure, started out as a little low oil pressure, then a slight knock, dropped the pan. repalced the C/R bearing got by a little longer, started to knock again. The long and short of it was a engine removal, a trip to the machine shop, where they had to cut the chrankshaft down .040 under. Get it done now the right way. you may only have to have it shaved .010. GOOD LUCK, BOB
