Are there one or two spring spacers for the B1 models? (to compensate for the weight of the spare tire on the door) I have only seen a cast iron spacer, about 5/8" thick at the left front spring.
I was recently asked if there was also one at the rear spring. I hadnt seen it that way but I am a long way from being able to say I know much!
Thanks,
Tim

Re: M37B1 spring spacer clarification needed
my B1 has spacers on the driver's side, front and back axles. and those spring/axle U-bolts appear to be longer than the ones on the passenger side.
Re: M37B1 spring spacer clarification needed
Correct-driver's side only, front and rear.

Ok, good info. Are the front and rear spacers the same?
Thanks,
Tim

Yes they are the same.
Garry, have you some tech reference for their use front and rear on a plain M37?

Sorry for the delay Wes,
Dan Pinkham's article "beef up your springs" in the vaunted Ahl Resto Guide is my point of reference-left side only, front and back, and Dave Ahl added an additional note to that effect.

Re: M37B1 spring spacer clarification needed
Yes I have read that and I interpret that as a field mod to correct for tired left side springs. All the published military tech data shows the M37 as originally produced used no spacers on spring perches (lt vs rt) on the front axle to compensate for the weight of the spare. The spacers for the left front and left rear are only listed for the Ambulance and the 1/2" longer spring U bolts are only listed for the left side of the ambulance..

Re: M37B1 spring spacer clarification needed
Quite possible-wonder if the 34P manual includes the spacer?

Used take-offs is likely the best way-Charles at M-Series Rebuild helped me out on a standard set this year. You might measure from the inside of the-bolt then send Charles a PM.
