I placed an order with Vintage Power Wagons last week, I ordered NOS brake shoe anchor bolts, NOS felt washer retainers, and NOS knuckle felt retainers and they sent me old rusted take-off parts. I ordered two new wheel cylinders I did not think to ask where they were made my mistake, they came from Taiwan they will be going back along with all the rusted scrap. Has anyone had similar experience with VPW.

That must be what they referring to when they say VINTAGE Power Wagon parts!T.R. wrote:I placed an order with Vintage Power Wagons last week, I ordered NOS brake shoe anchor bolts, NOS felt washer retainers, and NOS knuckle felt retainers and they sent me old rusted take-off parts.

That may very well be what you get sometimes with "NOS" ... "New Old Stock" means it has never been installed BUT may show signs of ageing. Taiwan is a humid place. Is the rust just surface rust ? Most NOS stuff can still be found in their original packages...or better yet..wrapped in cosmoline.
Re: Disappointed with VPW
You may be right, but all of the NOS parts that I have purchased before from other vendors were like new still in the original packaging, these parts were wrapped in rust and aged grease with road dirt mixed-in. The two brake backing plates did still have the original part number attached along with 50 years of dust protecting them I have no problem with that. I just did not expect to find this when I opened the box, when I was going thru their catalog I though I was going to get what I saw. Lesson learned ask more questions.Murf wrote:That may very well be what you get sometimes with "NOS" ... "New Old Stock" means it has never been installed BUT may show signs of ageing. I've had good luck with VPW-only had a problem one time, returned the faulty item, got the correct one back in a timely manner.

Re: Disappointed with VPW
I have bought from VPW twice. Never again. The first time I called to place an order using their part numbers for data plates right out of their own catalog. "Don't give me numbers, tell me what your working on and what you want...""a gruff voice said. Not even a "How are you today? and thanks for calling..."
The second go around was for "NOS" wrist pin bushings. They charged me around $4 each. What I got were plain Bunting 660 cast bronze bushings, no oil hole, too long, ID way too small. I had to take a ton of material off to size them, which is why I did not get the same Bunting bushings for 49 cents each from Bearing Distributors to begin with. Oh, and did I mention $10 shipping for a few ounces?
