So I was working in the lab late last night...
I fired up the Angry 5 radio. Using the house water pipe as an antenna I was enjoying picking up some "Los Cubanos" south of the border broadcast. I thought I had picked up Desi Arnez at the Tropicana club. All I could think of was that old 80's song "Mexican Radio" .It was awesome scanning the bands. I even picked up some Christian radio in Mandrin Chinese on a band out of Canada. Some of the noises picked up reminded me of old 1950's Sci-Fi sound effects.
This went on for about an hour. I had just learned how to set the presets when suddenly it just cut out .
The transformer is still humming but there is no reception on any bands, nor does the dial light work anymore. The AC fuse is intact however one of the DC fuses is blown. Must they all be intact to operate? Is there a tube that would do this? The manual troubleshooting is written for a radio savvy person, which I am not. Help..

What is your power source? DC or AC? If you are on DC (Battery) and you blew the fuse then that may be the problem. If you are running on AC then it's something different. Hard to say off hand what to look for. Are you getting any sound from the speaker but no station or no sound at all?
It wasn't just the short wave radios that had all the sci-fi noises. The old-time household AM radios did the same thing when changing stations. On Halloween, our house was "spooked out" to the max and one of us kids would man the dial whenever trick or treaters came to the door. It freaked the little ones out! I know it sounds weird, but I kinda miss those sounds now and then.
Well, replace the DC Fuse if it's blown, but it sounds like to me you may have a tube problem. Yes that radio is a tube radio. It's been so long since I've messed with those I've forgotten more than I want to admit to...
Have you tried running it on the different voltages? I believe the radio will run on 6V, 12V or 24V if I remember correctly. Might just be the AC Powersupply that's fritz out on you.
K8icu,
No I have not tried to run it on DC. I may try that. Have not done much this week as I am getting over that respitory bug thats going around. Will keep you posted.

Well I wasn't to far off when I said try the DC votlages and see if it runs. How did you figure out what you needed? Did you get the manual and start testing or did you call in someone? I'm just wondering.....
I hauled it out to my buddy Bob's who is a ham & military radio hobbyist. He also has an M37 with a com shelter. He opend up the power supply and started testing with his tube tester. The CK1007 failed. We also found a hunk of modern speaker wire inside the power supply soldered to the speaker leads.. Evidently some one had rigged up an external speaker to it at some point .
Now I need to find a DC power cable so I can wire it into the truck
