Re: The Rebuild begins!
Just a bit of an update. Ive got the entire truck stripped down to frame. Found alot of wiring issues that were hidden and need to be replaced. Got most of the parts i needed and my engine will be ready for reassembly by Wednesday at the latest. Alot more was found in that engine as well. Ended up needing the block decked as well as a few other things. It shall run like new! Still waiting on the sand blasting guy who seems to be busy as heck. And waiting to get the new bed for it so i can replace the "shrapnel" damaged bedside. Ill snap some pictures tomorrow and get em up!

You mention 2 very typical issues. That is more found with the engine than initially meets the eye, that is a common 1. Also that you found hidden issues with wiring when you got to the point of being able to really see. That is where many get into trouble with wiring issues causing a fire; it's always in the places you can't see where the real issues are.

absolutely! The thing is that all of the wiring issues i had previously checked out. When i got the truck last February i went through the wiring to check for any glaring/dangerous issues before putting the truck on the road. 1 season of use and a bit more sitting caused the insulation to finally give in the ghost. Check your wiring guys if it already hasnt, there is bound to be an issue somewhere. Any tips on pulling the water tube Charles? ive got to go up to the machine shop sometime this week and give him a hand doing it. He looked at me blankly when i mentioned i had a new one. Guess he hasnt seen a new distribution tube since he was a kid! Not surprising since they work mostly on much less common engines.

Most of the time we clamp them with needle nose vise-grips; then tap the pliers with a small hammer. Sometimes they are to stubborn for that method, then you just have to dig deep in the files and try to figure anything that might work is about all I know to say. Since the tube is tapered, if it ever moves a couple of inches, it usually comes on out easy.98taco3 wrote:absolutely! The thing is that all of the wiring issues i had previously checked out.
