Oil filter paint

Post by Gerry »

Would the inside of the cover been painted or does it make contact with the oil so it wont rust?
Semi Gloss black is the correct color?
Thanks,
Gerry

Semi-gloss black is correct. As far as I know, the insides were not painted. None of the ones I ever took off showed eveb a hint of paint on the inside.

GOOD MORNING, I just changed the oil and filter on my M, and the inside of the filter housing was not painted. I would think it should not be painted; should the paint peel or chip it would wind up in the lube system.
Have a great day BOB

Thanks Bob,
I had the same feeling or the paint might just disolve over time
