Attempting to replace a few buggered pipe fittings and am striking out finding any new ones. Temporarily I have stolen parts from one M to the other M - so I have bought me some time.
The fitting is on the crank case breather - 2nd 90 brass fitting downstream of the pcv vertical check valve. I think its a 1/4 male by 1/2 inverted flare fitting but none of the autoparts stores have it.
Its also the same fitting found on the air cleaner horn to oil fill breather tube (where i have stolen the part from.)
So the question is - is that the correct size - 1/4 male to 1/2 inverted flare? Cant seem to find them anyplace. Even striking out at Mcmaster Carr - must be on the wrong page. Sad part is that I was a pipe fitter for a little bit - and could tell a fitting size from 2 miles away - now I can't tell 3 inch pipe from 1 1/2 inch pipe without a tape and thread count - oh the skills we loose.
Took advantage of the warm weekend weather and adjusted the valve lash - now she sounds much better. I had done the adjustment cold with Charles's numbers - but must have been a tad off. Made it out with only two small burns on my knuckles. Far better then how Carter made out a while back with his burn. Although once a had a similar huge burn on my forearm from a exhaust manifold burn aboard ship - the ship rolled left and I rolled right. Ouch
Thanks
Jim
