Brake Adjustment ?

When Adjusting the breaks do you adjust Both Cam and Anchor Or just the Cam adjustment , The M is stopping But could be " More Gooder " ! at times it's a tad Probmatic when a stop light changes "Holy Chitt Batman" ! .

The subject of brake adjustments has been visited many times on this site. The conventional wisdom seems
to be that following the TM's is NOT necessarily the most correct way to adjust brakes on an m 37.

Charles and others on this site have contributed volumes of useful information on the subject.
Most will agree that no matter which method you use to adjust your brakes, don't expect miracles.

Suggest you use the "search" feature and find the info. already available. Enjoy the read, it's
enlightening.

I adjusted the breaks by only the break adjuster seems to work fine for now. .

If the brakes were new did you readjust the anchor points so there is slight drag only at the anchor points. Then I adjust the upper cams with the .006 feeler by using the adjustment window on the drum. I used the procedure in Army TM 9-8030.

The breaks have been on since I'v own it for the last 5 years, Know ideal before that found it down in New Bruffels Tx. in 07 it was titled in Ok. in 1965 my best guess is at that point it started its Cive life . .

I'd have to know a lot more before I could offer really valid assistance; however I can tell you that adjusting with a feeler gauge is vitually useless with any worn components in place. The book procedure only applies if everything in the system is 100% new, I'm talking linings, drums, everything. Even the procedure described for worn linings does not cover nearly all you need to know for success. If anything has wear it simply does not work to get full lining to drum contact which must be obtained to get braking effort the best it can be. Adjusting the clearance with worn components is seat of the pants and will be different on every wheel. There is no set procedure.
