I have always bought the battery(s) with the highest CCA that will fit, and with the best warranty.

Yes thats the best way to get long life. The life of a battery is determined by its current draw cycles, a low CCA rating(in the old days Amp Hours was used as the rating) for the paticular application results in a battery that gives more of its power on each draw(such as starting) so it gets a deeper discharge recharge cycle. this shortens the life of the battery, whereas one that has a high CCA rating for the application has a shallow discharge cycle and will give longer life. Of course other factors will affect battery life also, such as long periods of sitting , tempature, and charging system performance. There isnt an amp hour to cca cross reference as they arent the same type of evaluation of a battery's performance. A good battery catalog should also list amp hours somewhere, its just not commonly used as a guide anymore even though amp hours is a better way to rate a battery.
