prop shaft universal joints

According to my manual I require Universal Products 5160 universal joints for my prop shafts.
Apparantly the equivalent is Spicer 5-1300X.

Can anyone confirm if this sounds correct and where the best place is to buy these please.

He's referring to what we Yanks like to call "drive shaft" U-joints.

Brits (including Scots and Welsh) like to call 'em prop shafts, which we all know may be found only in boats!

I am always conscious in how I describe things on this forum hence the reason I used the description from my CANADIAN
EME manual and it clearly states "Field and Base repairs, PROPELLER SHAFTS AND UNIVERSAL JOINTS"

Guess the Canadians must be more like us Brits than I thought !!

BUT, where can I get them?

If you have a local source that has a cross reference # guide; the part #'s are Precision brand #305 on the front and rear shafts. The intermediate or jack shaft is Precision brand #304. Be sure the ones supplied are not Chinese, they aren't working out too well.

Of course we are, we've still got the Queen on our money! Hell, we didn't even get our own flag until 1967, prior to that we flew a variant of the Union Jack, called the Red Ensign. (at least according to Wikipedia...

One of the first things I learned at my incoming orientation when posted to RAF Uxbridge was that "the US and UK are two countries separated by a common language." True, the Canadians approach to our language is closer to "true" English than ours, but numerous "Canadianisms" can be found if you look closely enough. The same may be said for the Aussie, Kiwi, and various other national adoptions, I think. It matters not a whit when we can understand each other. Canadian "French" is a horse of an entirely different colour!

Don't even get me started on Canadian French - its a waste of course in language education. Its only spoken in Canada, and any other french speaking nation looks down on you when you speak it to them. The worst part is that we're forced to take it in school as its an offical language, along side English. I'm in BC, about as far away from Quebec as I can possibly get. I speak English, and have no use for French. What really frosts me is that every box or container in Canada must be printed with English and French on it. I get really peeved when in the grocery store, and stock kids face the cartons with the French side out.

Needless to say, I could rant about this all day long, but I won't

I suppose we Canucks are also one of the few in the United Kingdom who can speak English without an accent...

Englisn/French labeling is "liveable," I guess, if French is an official language. Down here, we have to contend with Spanish. It's NOT an "official" language and we're more than 500 miles from the Mexican border. My wife works at the local McDonalds and is very vocal on the subject of language in the workplace.. She and her native-born co-workers are "encouraged" to learn enough Spanish to communicate with the (mostly illegal) Mexicans who work there, but the Mexicans are not required to learn English. There is also a bi-lingual poster in the employee's lounge which offers free tuition to any Spanish-speaking employee who wants to attend college. The same offer is not made to the native American employees.

Don't overlook the French as spoken by ex-French Canadians who occupied southern Louisiana. The Cajuns have a version of their own as well.

Take a good long look in the M37 US written manuals. There are no drive shafts on the M37. Only those things called propeller shafts!!!

LOL!, Billy lives not more than 30 miles from my house. He once popped into our store and left his chauffer outside in his Rolls Royce !! Really down to Earth guy.
