Page dedicated to overhaul of the HiLift jack. List of parts and directions to HiLift's parts department included.
Got one of these old tools out in junk pile that WAS headed to scrap. Thinking that it is fixable after looking over this page.
Gotta be a million(s) of these out there. I've seen dozens heading to junking or scrapping because they "quit working".

Re: HiLift jack overhaul
For sure! Most people would probably figure that a Hi-Lift jack was not reparable and either throw it away or just use it for a pry bar. Anyone under 40 has already been thoroughly indoctrinated into the great throw-away style of consumerism. I know of only one shoe repair shop, and he's struggling to stay open. I haven't seen a shoeshine stand in 30 years. Small appliance repair shops? Gone with the wind. I'm old enough to still believe that anything that has been factory assembled can be disassembled, repaired, and reassembled "good as new." We're a dying breed, guys.
Thanks for the article, Kevin. I feel better now.

Thanks for posting that! How do the HF jacks compare to the Hi-Lift models as far as design and materials?
Re: HiLift jack overhaul
Lifer's right, this is a "disposable generation" that being said, most things are not made to be repaired.
I think we have one cobbler left in town, he Vietnamese, has more work than he can handle!
