Radiator top hose collapsing.

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help,my top radiator hose collapses after i turn the engine off,does the top hose have to have the coil inside the same as the M151 ?
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what the T.O. says, but I've changed a lot of top hoses on Chrysler flathead sixes. Some had the "spring" reinforcement in 'em. Others didn't.

You have a vacuum in your cooling system. When your engine is running, the coolant heats up and expands, creating a pressurized system. When you shut it down, the coolant cools down and contracts, creating a vacuum. This is a common "problem" which is not actually a problem at all. If your top hose is collapsing, it is probably getting old and soft (like me). If so, the collapsing hose could be warning you that it may rupture while you're straining to get up the next hill with a load on the truck. I'd guess that a new top hose would do much to relieve your mind. While you're at it, why not replace the bottom hose and the fan belt, too?

Cheers lifer for your reply,like most things when its explained to you it makes sense..the top hose and bottom hose is relatively new and ive just replaced the fan belt,i will probably replace the hoses anyway and see how it goes.
