Door Check Problem

Post by Sal »

I have a problem with the door checks. After I install them the doors wont close right. They seam to be hitting the inside of both doors, no matter which way I install them. Does anyone other then me have or had this problem ?

Are they going through the guides the right way? I think the curve of the arm, faces the outside of the door, I'll check it out for you later today.

This is a pic that Sid sent me, as I didn't know how the arm check rode/rested in the guides. Did you weld a repair piece on?

Bruce the problem is no matter which way I install them when I try to close the door something is preventing it from fully closing. I'm missing the outer guide on both doors. The one that goes on the door face itself could that be it? :?

Could be? This is what we're talking about, right?
The Arm Check actually locks into the Arm Check Guide.

Bill L. had some of these a while back (BTW, The pic is his, thanx Bill) he might still have a source for them?

Unless you replace it, or somehow repair the guide wires, it won't work? Give John Bizal a call, or check his web page out; www.midwestmil.com
Or look up Bill Lammer on my webshots page?
Wish I was more help, keep us posted.

I found the problem, the arm of the check is hits the inside of the door when I close it. It seams that the bracket that is welded to the door pillar is in the wrong spot ? When I got the truck there were no door checks on her. I was thinking about grinding off some of the check arm...

Cool picture! I guess w/o the guide wire on the bracket the door won't click & lock open either? Short of grinding the mount off and relocating it, "Fine Tuning the Arms" will still keep the doors from making contacting either fender?
