cowl vent drain hose

Last weekend while caught in the rain, I had a steady stream of water hitting the trans cover. I then realized I did not install the cowl vent gutter hose. What is the routing for it? Does it exit the firewall on the passenger side?

David I had the same thing happen with not having a drain hose. It was a surprise to me to see water pouring in on the floor
I routed the drain tube through a hole in the fire wall and down by the shock mount and zip tied it in place.
The funny thing is, that was a couple of years ago and I haven't been caught in the rain again!! Life in the desert

I have a question? What is rain it seems to be an evasive in my area. It seems that getting a chance to actually drive it always happens when I am sleeping or at work then it’s done! So my M37 has no leaks any where! Maybe a little dust seeps in but no rain!

Mine routes out the firewall behind the horn, I think the speedo cable routes through at that point also. The TM lists it as 7/16" ID, 5/8" OD, 11" long. Mine is roughly that long and it sticks out the firewall wall about 3" so that it drips on the back corner of the engine block. Probably routing it down lower would be better or at least long enough to miss the engine.

I'll trade you! I'm in Florida and the "official" forecast is for a high of 92 but that's complete BS! Our temperatures are consistantly running 5 to 7 degrees higher than the "official" numbers. Add in the 80+% humidity and the heat index is forecast to be 102! Considering the actual temperature the heat index will be much higher!

I'll take 4 months of heat instead of 9 months of cold. 100F and 2-3 % humidity and you can stand in the shade and its not bad. Heck drinks don't even sweat, no coasters needed. You can pour water on your self and cool off quick as it evaporates so fast.

Funny, Thats how I spent my Memorial day weekend. I'm the last one on my street to get rid of the PB crap. I did 200' of pex instead.

PB is a great product isn't it Brett !! What happened to copper ? I see that all houses are now plumbed in some sort of plastic. No copper anywhere!
So what's to say the new plastic is better than the old stuff?

It's because of all the enviro-nuts fears that lead will leach out of the soldered joints and contaminate the water, making it unsafe to drink. They also fear that any such water released into the environment (washing cars, watering lawns, draining the bathtub, flushing the john, etc) will contaminate the ground water. They do not seem to have any such qualms about the chemicals used in the glue that holds the plastic pipes together.

Price is a big factor, along with labor cost. For supply lines no elbows are needed the plastic can be bent around the corners or obstacles and no need for splices . Plastic will last longer too,if your water is corrosive.
