My first Parade tomorrow.

Post by HingsingM37 »

Spent 6 hours today going over the truck. Making sure all was in order for Monday. Secured wires, new fuel filter, a little avgas in the tank for aroma, wash and paint touch up, painted my axe and shovel for the tool rack, I can't wait. I will post pics later. Everybody have a great Memorial Day and God Bless America & our Troops past and present. :D

Congrats David! How did it go?

My Memorial Day consisted of just a short ride for coffee with the Flag waving from the front-early enough not to impede any traffic, but several waves and smiles from those few who were out and about....

No parade here. Just a nice "joint service" ceremony by the VFW and American Legion posts at our Veterans Memorial Park. I was in full Legion Dress uniform, it was hot and muggy, it was threatening to rain at any second, the VFW chaplain was a long-winded Baptist minister who went on and on and on with every 3rd word being "Lord," and the mayor's speech was even longer. Like the other uniformed veterans, I stood at parade rest throughout the ceremony except for the raising of the flag and playing of the national anthem, when we came to attention. Was I miserable? Yes, I was. Did I complain about conditions? No, I did not. Was I proud to participate? Of course I was. Will I volunteer to do it again? Dang betcha!! :D

Bruce,
When I have long posts to make and I don't trust my browser. the site or the server I type them in a Word Doc then I paste the doc in the browser window. Don't ask how I learned to do that!

Ok, Here's the link to my pics pages from the weekend:
http://www.g741.org/photogallery/main.p ... g2_page=24

The parade went well. Other than I had a trailer in front of me which prevented me getting pictures out of the front glass. All I could see was the trailer door. Afterwards there was an invocation at the cemetary with a flag raising. They then passed out awards and yours truly got "Most Patriotic" display. I was surprised.

With thunderstorms eminent, we stopped on the way home at Western Reserve National Cemetary to visit my freind Ed Smith who was a F51(P51) pilot in Korea. Then the rain started. Mind you I do not have my wipers or door glass in yet, nor my drain hose for the cowl vent, we got a little wet on the way home but a good day all in all :D We then went to the other cemetaries to visit my dad and my wifes father, both Army vets.
