With a little heat wrench , hammer, and hard work.......
That is a chute on the ground next to it? Maybe a cargo drop that went very bad?

Re: Interesting M37 photo
Ouch, definitely burnt in on a drop. The door has a parachute stencil so maybe from the airborne test board since they are non-standard markings.
I saw a M551 Sheridan on Sicily DZ at Ft Bragg in the 90s that burnt in. The road wheels were popped off, laying in a row about 5 feet off each side, and the hull was flat on the ground. Otherwise, it didn't look too bad. This guy will never get that tailgate straightened. No wonder we can't find any NOS ones anymore.

Dave guessed it. A 1960 air drop failure. The M38A1's faired a little better.

That's a 106mm RR on the skid next to all 3 jeeps in the first pic.

Re: Interesting M37 photo
The M38A1 that is suspended (first jeep photo) is a 106 mm R.R. carrier. Notice the location of the jerry can bracket and spare tire carrier (as well as the rifle itself at the base of the pallet
). I think if I was going to post a caption for the photo of the M37 at the top of this thread, I'd write: "Ran when parked" or my other favorite; "that'll buff out."

That truck is only suffering from deacceleration tramma.

Re: Interesting M37 photo
I would be telling you that there was way too little gravity added in the drop equation. Or just adding a parasol to slow it just a bit would have maybe saved something, but hey thats the Army for ya.

Re: Interesting M37 photo
Are you guys trying to say that your trucks didn't look like that before restoration?
