265 L6 in M37B1

Post by rdwhite »

I'm in the process of putting a Chrysler 265 flathead into a M37B1. I have a question about the clutch. Will the larger 11" clutch fit into the stock bellhousing. Or, would I still need to use the 10" clutch? Thanks.

An 11" clutch will fit in the housing, no problem if all else fits. If you are using the stock transmission, the input shaft may be an issue for you. Most 11" clutch disc hubs are larger than the 1"-10 spline that is original to M37's. I have seen a few 11" clutches with the correct hub, but it has been years. Pulled one a couple of weeks ago that had an 11" clutch, the hub was 1 3/8"- 10 spline however.

Thanks for the response. I did find a clutch kit for a Dodge WM300 Pickup that has the 11" clutch disc with a 1"-10 center hub. So I think I'm good to go.
