Yes I saw it but it's Saturday so I'll have to wait till Monday to call him. But AFIK Selectro doesn't make any that will fit the M37 so Tom must have old stock or may be getting them custom made.

In the mean time, I found someone that has an old set of hubs on an M37. I waiting to find out if they're Warns and what he wants for them. Keeping my fingers crossed!

As far as I know, they are still available from the factory.

Super Winch is a decent locking hub for light off road activity. The Co will make them good if they break, however I'm not sure how they would react if you broke several over time, the welcome might wear out. They won't stand heavy duty pressure. AVM is about the same category. Selectro's will stand up significantly better than the afore mentioned brands will, we have gotten them from Tom in the past, I agree with his post, they are still available as far as I know.

Something better has come on the scene in the last short while, reproductions of the old WARN hubs are available now from 2 different sources. WARN hubs have always been the leader in quality, durability, and are the only ones that incorporate needle roller bearings into their hubs, they are also rebuildable and not a toss and replace type of product, reproductions are no different. Steve Fowler of Power Wagons West has had them reproduced in the US, cost is around $700 per set, they are a beautiful, high quality set of hubs. Dan Shockley of Power Wagon Lockers, the ARB guy has also had the same hub reproduced in China, these cost $300 per set. Dan works for Caterpillar and has had several extended trips to China because of his job with CAT. He had these hubs built there and oversaw the design, raw material selection, quality control, and production process during his off time from the regular job. He and I have talked extensively about the quality of the Chinese product. He has been very straight forward and has explained the situation very well. We have bought several sets from him and have had excellent results thus far. He has also had them tested and has results of that posted on the PowerWagonLockers site, where you can also view detailed photos of the hubs. These are in stock and available at any time via the website or by phone order if I have the right understanding. They come with all necessary mounting hardware, grade 8 bolts, gaskets, etc. It is without a doubt the best deal going for a premium quality set of locking hubs at this time.

Charles, Thanks for the info on Dan Shockley's hubs. I knew about his lockers but I didn't know about his new hubs. The Chinese CAN make good products when they want to and if they have enough oversight to prevent them from taking shortcuts! I have an Olympus E-3 made in China and it's first rate from beginning to the end. I'm be giving Tom at Snake River and Dan a call this week. I'll post what I find out on here.

Anybody know how the AVM hubs compare internally to the old Warns and how they're holding up and what their policy regarding warranty replacements for damaged hubs is? I've seen their stuff advertised but haven't heard any feedback about them. I didn't think they made hubs for the M-37 but Chuck just said that he has a set.

One of Dan's quotes concerning Chinese goods was this, "if you tell them that price will be the primary driver of sales, they will show you just how cheap they can make it." Being there because of his position with Caterpillar has enabled him to become educated in these areas of business. He has become very savvy of how to get them to build a good product.

To be honest, AVM's don't compare to the old Warn's at all. They are pretty comparable to Super Winch. I don't know their policy concerning warranty claims. We used to use them some back in the 80's, but never put them into a harsh environment. I'm not aware as to whether they are still offered today for the power wagons and M37, have not seen any in a good many years now.

I run the Superwinch lockouts, and yes, 400508 is correct for the M37. I painted mine black with red letters, to get rid of the chrome end, but will eventually get the 24087 shade applied.

+1 here...I have the SuperWinch 400508 on my 54 M37. Easy to install, and the switch glides smoothly into and out of engagement. I have heard that they are getting hard to find, however. The box that mine came in says W300 Power Wagon. And for those who don't have locking hubs....GET THEM! In my case, made the vehicle easier to steer, quieter on the road and smoother ride at speed.

I had them on mine and they work great. However....I actually use my truck. It goes out to the desert on a regular basis, and to me,its a pain in the rear to get out every time I need to use four wheel drive. I'd rather just pull the stick and go. Be fore warned....they stick out kind of far,and can be smacked on rocks. Even with bolt on guards, they can get beat up.

AVM and Superwinch are the same thing, both made by AVM in Brazil.
I don't know if the use the Superwinch brand for the US market or Superwinch buys AVM production of certain hubs.
Down here you can get AVM boxes with Superwinch hubs inside.

The Selectro Hubs are still being produced. I just picked a set up 6 months ago for $295 / New in the box, I think the Part number is 11022-01

Bryan Sage does make a great hub protector out of thick steel- bolts on with the hub bolts. They won't fit over a Warn M13 hub without a bit of metal removal around the bolt recesses.

Where can I get more information about Bryan Sage Hub Guards? I tried Googling "Bryan Sage Hub Guards" with no luck.

I've got old M13's ( bought them new 30+ years ago) and I've never had a problem with them. I would like to see the hub guards, however.

Thanks,

I bought my M-13's new about 45 years ago. No trouble out of mine either.
