Interior Bracket Q?

I've seen a few trucks that have a triangular bracket that bolts with 2 bolts just left of the primer knob. It fits in the corner below the dash up against the door pillar. Looks to be about 3" across, 3" down. Any idea of what it is?

Its a reinforcement bracket for the door mount spare tire carrier.

Peter - Thanks! The bracket looked like a heavy duty support for the door pillar - but the vehicle did not have the spare tire mounted there. That' what confused me - thanks again.
