John doesn't have a mechanical fuel pump up front. Which is why he is heading across the firewall.
I believe a steel pipe from the pump to the carb was original. Only a hose from pump to frame mounted tube on inlet side.

Cuz has it right. I see no reason to run a line all the way around the engine and up by the exhaust. I installed the pressure regulator where the original fuel filter was tonight. the factory flexible line went right into the base of the regulator. All I need is a tubing bender and I will install the line on the firewall. I am thinking of running the line on the engine side of the carb though.
I would like to thank everyone for their input. I tend to spend a lot of time looking at the problem, and get kind of fixated on what I think is the best option. The views I got here resulted in a better and easier fix in my opinion. Thanks. John
