M-37 Window question

My M-37 needs both windshields and the passenger door window. Is there any place to order these from or is it cheaper just to get someone local to cut them out of flat sheet glass? I've heard of some owners installing bronze tinted glass. I'd like to know what people's opinions are about this and other tinted glass. How expensive is it and is it worth it?

A flat glass panel around here is worth about $25.00 so its not really feasable to order one, when one is available locally. This is also laminated safety glass as well. Unless your window frame is pooched, I'd order locally. If you need the frame and all, $125-$200-ish seems to be the going rate as described here in other posts when the subject has come up.

Naturally you'll save money installing the glass yourself - but I've heard that it can be a real PIA if the window frames are not in reasonable condition...

I needed to have a side window replaced and I had to negotiate DOWN to $100, and the guy only agreed because I did all of the hard work in freeing the small frame screws with lots of PB Blaster and a hammer.

I found the windshield assemblies easier (and more costly) to just replace as an entire unit (but a purist wouldn't want to see the "Kumiko" name on the inner laminate (or whatever that name actually is)).

If you have a glass shop put new glass in your frame and they use a urethane sealer, instead of a gasket, which is what it had originally, make sure they don't squeeze the verticalbars on the front windsheild. Like if they cut the glass slightly too small. I realize that they would also have the top bar and urethane it in as well, but there is alittle play on the top bar. If it is pushed together a 1/16, the windshield when it is installed in the Larger windshield frame with the new rubber seal it will not seal, there will be a gap. Yes even though you can adjust the small windshield side to side , you may still have a gap.
At a local glass shop it cost me 55 dollars per window. I supplied them to him old glass removed frames painted and furnished him with the old glass to use as a guide.

Tinted glass is usually readily available in green, bronze, and gray. You would want to base your choice on the color of your truck, if it's OD, green tinted is the logical choice. Having it cut locally is the only choice for going tinted. It really helps on glare and is worth the few extra $$ it cost for the tinted glass.

New inner frames with glass are available from us and others. The glass in all these is clear. If we use new frames and want tinted glass, we remove the clear glass and replace it with tinted. No need for this if your frames are good. If you want new frames and clear glass, it's the way to fly, the new assemblies include the top hinge portion, the latch at the bottom, and the 3 sided seals already installed, so it isn't a bad deal even if you want to change out to tinted glass, depends on what you need and want.

You may also want to check your local laws and/or ordinances. There are some places where tinted windows are unlawful. If that's the case where you live, you will be fined and have to put out the cash to get replacement glass again.
