BRake help

Post by Caldwelljj0 »

I just replaced the two rear wheel cylandars and shoes. Reinstalled evertying as per manual. Bled all four brakes as per instructions and repeated about 5 times. But still have very soft pedal and no brakes. Any suggestions?

Assuming you got the air out of the lines, you'll need to get your feeler gauges and adjust the shoes per the 9-8030 manual, as you likely have too much gap between the drums and the shoes. There are two different adjustments for these, as well as an adjustment for the master cylinder rod.

Jeff,

Did you bleed the master cylinder?

What is proper master Cylindar bleeding procedure?

I did adjust brakes appropriately. It is definitely air in there somewhere.

If you have a hydraulic dead end at the brake light switch it helps to crack the switch loose and bleed it just like a bleeder screw.
