There's this little bar with bit of chain attached to it that is tucked in between where the drivers seat and the passenger seat should be... What's that for locking the steering wheel... If it is I think I'm missing a bit of chain how many links should there be or is there another accessory that attaches to the bit of chain...
Second question...
What is the lever that is up on the upper passenger side exterior of the window frame for... looks like it swings out to attach something to it or something is this something to attach fording equipment to...
Hi Oddjob that bar above the window is for holding the hood safely in the open position against the windshield. There should be a loop on the hood. When you lift the hood back the bar swings out and fits in the loop. This way the hood cannot fall forward.
OK...rixm37 answered your question about the "lever" at the top of the windshield. I'll try the other one.
That "little bar with a bit of chain" on it is not a factory item. More than likely, it was a unit (or civvy owner) addition to lock the steering wheel and prevent theft. If it's too short for the steering wheel, it could have been used to lock the shift lever into a specific position. Putting the transmission in 4th gear and locking it there would pretty well insure that your truck would still be there when you got back.
Hmmm never thought of locking the shifter back... Bet that's it... Have a locking shifter on my Vw Beetle and it sure has saved that vehicle from being stolen many times...
Probably will be a good thing to keep around... Thanks Lifer...
