Painting a new steering wheel

Post by refit1701 »

I should be able to lightly sand this new wheel and then shoot it with urethane, correct? I can't stand the thought of a green wheel on my Strata truck...

What color would the steering wheel be in a USAF strata blue M37?

Maybe I should to black then. Though I'll have to buy paint just for that.

One rattle-can of black won't break the bank, will be more than enough for the job, and leave a whole bunch left over for another project. ;)

If it's the acrylic kind, it should hold up pretty good. Multiple coats will hold up longer, of course. I painted a rusty old bicycle for my grand-daughter's first bike. Used 2 shades of Krylon pink acrylic with white Krylon brush-on for the pinstripes. She was 3 when she got it and 9 when she outgrew it. She abused it to the max, but couldn't destroy the paint. Spokes, yes...paint, no.
