Well, we haven't been concentrating on MV's like we should. I bought this 1970 MG-B at auction for $450.00 and then restored it this winter.
Took it out for a test drive today and it held togeather. Still a few electrical bugs to get out.

Tom, WOW, looks nice, but I don't think it's the ideal vehicle to use on snow covered roads.

That's one sweet MG. You mentioned that there are "still a few electrical bugs" to deal with. All MG drivers are familiar with that situation. Lucas electrical components have never been known for reliability. If you still have Lucas electrics, you'll still have problems. It's just the nature of the beast.

Thanks for the comments, now I don't fell so bad about the Lucus electrics, however that does not fix my turn signals, tail lights, brake lights, wipers, and headlight switch. It will be an uphill battle.
The rims were powder coated in a shiney silver/gray and look great.

I have been watching a similar MG-B on Ebay and it is now at $8,000.00 with one day to go. I am about $5,500.00 cash into the restoration, so I am where I want to be investment wise, however if I would have had to pay someone for my labor and if the motor would have not been okay, I would be over invested.

I really have no money in the bank, it's all in collectables. But after watching what I had in the stock market tank by about 40%, I don't feel bad about collectables.

This is my first British restoration, which proves that we are still "Jack of all trades, and masters of none".

So I'm not alone in owning English iron? That's good to know . I'm currently doing a complete tear down resto on a Ferret Mk1/2. My Brother used to own a '73 MGBGT as well as a MGB so the old phrase "Lucas electric prince of darkness" is not lost on me...

When I lived in Kenya we had a saying - The nice thing about Land Rovers is that any place you have 2 or 3 of them in one place you have the beginning of a junk yard. The electrics in them was junk when new, unlike the M37 that only turns to junk after 60 years (because the rubber cracks off the wires).

Do you know why the British don't make computers? They haven't found a way to make them leak oil. After owning a TR6 many years ago I had to chuckle when I first heard that.

Why are there no skyscrapers in London?......Lucas makes elevators.

I used to know a thousand of those. So why do I have an MG midget?.......... Because there is nothing that can quite compare to the joy of a British roadster. And why do I like British roadsters so much? I guess It's because sometimes I realize that OD can only get you so far, and I want to do the passing instead of being passed.

However other days I view the world through OD colored sunglasses, wake up thinking there is nothing like the smell of military canvas in the morning, and take to the road in my Dodge with the attitude of, "You and whose army?" It's kink of like having the right tool you need for the job at hand.

If you are having electrical bugs then it sounds like you have an extremely authentic restoration. Keep in mind if you get those bugs worked out you will have to show it in a custom or modified category. My MG is the first car I ever bought. I still have it and would not part with it for any price. I haven't driven it in several years but I am going to start a restoration this spring.

By the way, I have all my wood now. Hopefully I will shortly have my Snake River troop seats and rails installed.
