April NC Southern Power Wagon Gathering

Post by CGarbee »

As some of you might know, I have agreed to host the Southern Power Wagon Spring Gathering this year.

This year's gathering will be held April 24-27, 2008.

We are going to hold the event in the Uwharrie National Forest (they have a great OHV park) which is located between Asheboro and Charlotte, North Carolina. Since my sister-in-law's parents have property just south of Asheboro and a lot of the side attractions that we will be visiting are located in the Asheboro, you can think of the rally as being "in" Asheboro. :)

Current plans are to trail ride in the park on Friday. Saturday we are thinking about hitting Delk's Surplus, the Warbird Museum, and the Pisgah Covered Bridge. For those who don't get enough of the trails on Friday, we'll also be setup for folks to trailride on Saturday and Sunday.

Both the NC Zoo and the NC Pottery Center (and a host of individual potteries) are in the area as well...

I'll have more info soon, but wanted to let everybody know the dates now that they are fixed.

Well surely I could make this one since it's only half hour away from the shop. We'll give it our best shot.

That would be great.
How's that truck you were working on when I last saw you comming along? It'd be a great chance for the owner to show it off and to meet some other like minded individuals. :)

Yep,
That's one reason why I have it listed as one of the places we plan to visit... :)
They are actually on the west side of Asheboro on US64...

We are finalizing the prep work on the cab this week, hope to start the paint on it Monday. Everything else is painted other than a few small pieces the owner just brought down. Once we can get going on reassembly, wiring, etc., I believe it will wind up fairly soon.

Delk's isn't far from Uwharrie at all, north on 109 to Eldorado, right on New Hope road to 49 north, right on 49, a few miles then left on Farmer road, few more miles then left on Moore road. Comes out at 64 west right beside Delk's yard. This route cuts off a good many miles rather than going into Asheboro on 49 & heading west on 64 from town. Good roads & a nice scenic drive through the country.
