Josh, your truck is the product of a sick and twisted mind, a really skilled and imaginative sick and twisted mind, keep up the good work, we are following your build closely as it is Great Stuff to watch!!

Bubba,
Did you use the original transfer case? If so how did you couple it to the new tranny?

The Tcase is a divorce unit - meaning there is a short drive shaft from the trans to the tcase. The spline on the shaft is fairly common, so sometimes a female conversion yoke is available, otherwise a new shaft could be made with the trans yoke on one end, and the tcase yoke on the other.
A married trans and tcase - both units bolted together - could also be used, providing the tcase has the correct passenger side front output for the front driveshaft.
Master Yota,
I'd like to go with an automatic tranny so I won't have to fool with rigging up a clutch linkage. I'm hoping to put in a 302 Ford engine from an F150 4X4. The automatic is a short one because it couples to the Ford's transfer case. I then hope to couple the C6 to an intermediate shaft to the M37's transfer case. I don't yet know if this will be feasible. This will be done to my beater M37 to use around the farm. I have the 302/C6 combo so it's just a thought.

No need for a clutch linkage I went with hydraulic clutch. What you need is a np 435 out of a bronco and just use a hydraulic clutch.

Hydraulic clutch, crap I didn't think of that. Change of plan, thanks

The Automatic has been done with other engines, but you will need a 2wd version. The version that you have will not support just a driveshaft in place of the tcase. There is no way to seal the end of the transmission and keep oil in it. That is what the transfer case does (or more specifically - the adapter between the C6 and the tcase). 2wd C6's with the SBF bolt pattern are not uncommon, but are not easy to find. The manual trans route is a cheaper and better alternative.
Manual clutch linkage isn't that difficult to build. Either way, you'll need a 2wd transmission to work with the M37 Transfer case.

Hope this helps.
Yes that's why I was wondering is it was feasible to do. I wanted to go that route because I think the tranny tailshaft of a 2WD setup may be too long with no room to adapt it to the t/case using a V8 anyway, maybe a V6 would work since it's shorter.
please, whatever you do, dont try to connect them with a single U joint. It won't work. I have lost count of how many Jeeps, M's, and other short wheelbase trucks I have seen with single U joints between the trans and T case and the owners can't seem to figure out why it is wrecking bearings and vibrating the truck apart.

Yes I've heard about that, someone on the forum did that a few years ago and claimed success but I don't know his long term outcome. If only one u joint was needed the short intermediate shaft wouldn't have two. I may just break down and fix the original 230, that way I'll have a another good engine when my restored truck needs it. Thanks Josh, I really like the engineering your putting into that monster truck.
A 2wd NP435 (or one of its variants), BWT18, or SM465 will all work fine with a V8 of your choice and mate up to the stock tcase with little trouble. The length is just fine on any of these transmissions.
Dodge V8 - NP435 or variant
GM V8 - SM465
Ford V8 - NP435, T18
All these are 4spd transmissions. All 3 of them at some point have even been offered with a Hydraulic clutch setup.
Don't bother with a V6 - the M37 is too heavy, and a V6 won't make any more torque than the 230 (at least a stock one anyway).
