My m37 has no home, right now its parked for the winter in my neighbors unused driveway.
One of the many problems with my truck is the rust behind the dash and around the hood hinges, this rust must come from condensation during storage.
To prevent condensation and rust I decided to run an extension cord from my garage to inside the back of the truck where I have a 100 watt light then a cord into the cab with a 60 watt bulb.
For the cost of 160 watts I'm keeping the interior a few degrees warmer than outside, hopefully keeping the moisture level inside the truck lower than outside.
I'll check on it several times this winter, I'll let you know if it helps.

Something else that works - get a cat litter pan, or pie plate, and put some silica cat litter in it. Works like a dessicant and absorbs moisture.

Or you could eat alot of Jerky and throw those little packets of silica everywhere!

Yes with a full strip down and rebuild, Im sure there are better ways to protect the metal than were available in 1954, and if I had the time and money to do that I probably wouldn't be storing it out doors..... BUT I know I'm not the only one to store their truck out doors. I also know I'm not the only one to have this rusting from the inside out problem.
I am presenting a simple and inexpensive way to delay the effects of nature and costly repairs for those of us that cant afford to drop 20 grand having our truck rebuilt every 10 years.

Every so often I spray under the dash and up around under the cowl area with WD-40. In the spring I'm going to paint the area with a paint called Chassis Saver by Magnet paints, it's great stuff, Google it and check it out, I saw it on an edition of "Truck" on TV, a guy was redoing Ted Nugent's Bronco and used it on the inner fenders, paints over rust but is not like POR, even cures faster when it's humid.
