After reading the two related posts I started to do a little manual research for part numbers and etc. Seems all manual references listing brand before 1970 refer to the "Guide Light" company kit 6220-322-2546 ORD G741 7971491 which included the "Guide Light" spot light PN 926897. I didn't see any mention of kit 6220-790-7780 until TM 9-2320-212-20P dated MAR 72. There that kit is further ID'd as MS51307-2 Vendor code 96906 (Code for MIL Standards branch) and the spot light in the kit was PN 926897 w/ vendor code 12204 (Chrysler). So looks to me like Chrysler was primary the spot light PN 92687 which may have used several different vendors over the years. The early SNL shows an earlier "Guide Light" spot lamp PN E9072B was used on the M43 but superseded to the 926897.

Hi Wes,
I just received an NOS spotlight from John Bizal at Midwest Military. It is a Unity light. Unity lights usually have a crest on the lense bezel that says UNITY or what ever car manufacturer that was using it (Chrysler, ford etc.)
The military version has a smaller crest that is plain, no text at all. The wire has a Packard connector, which would make it newer as the rubber Packard connectors superceeded the metal Douglas connectors. It would not be hard at all to use a civilian Unity unit and shorten the shafts. Other than the crest, it would be dead on. (Painted instead of chrome of course!)

Yes, I saw that supersedures were ok I was just concerned with which would be correct with which year group of vehicles. The early manuals illustrate the roof mount for the M43 and the fender mount for the V41/M201 but the Ords do not restrict the setups to only the M45 and V41 so I am sure the older kit shown in the 53 ORD 7 was appropriate for use on the M37 as well.
It would be nice if we could nail down the introduction date of the Unity unit or the switch to the MS standard light which probably had several different manufactures through the years.

The TM 9-2320-212-20P is the March 72 Organizational Parts list and shows the later Mil spec kit which specifies Chrysler as the vendor. The only info in the TM 9-2320-212-20 Org. Maint is how to change the bulb and that it uses an S-8 bulb. We would need a -34 and -34P Field/depot maint manual published after 1960's.

From pub indexes there weren't any changes between 55 and 60 to the aforementioned pubs. So you're kinda stuck with a snapshot of history from 1950 thru 55 and from about 66 thru the early 80's. For example the 1955 8030 was not replaced by the 212-10 and -212-20 until 1973. The -212-20 Org Maint just doesn't offer the system details at the begining of each chapter that you find in the old 8030/31 series. The 53 8031-2 is a good source for the Guide light spec but we need the first issue of the -212-34 and 34P for the same depot level info and they weren't published until after 1960. If you only want 1957 to 60 data you'll have to find someone with Dodge factory delivery information and other internal Dodge production records.

Change orders were used for pressing and demanding issues that may adversely affect operations. A minor change in suppliers of a spot lite wouldn't qualify for the change order effort. Those minor changes are left for pub revisions and issuance of new pubs. Since we have no revisions between the 53 and 55 dated pubs before the advent of the 1973 pubs we're pretty much out of luck. I am fairly new to the M37 arena but it still surprises that no one has responded with any -34 or -34P info. I would have expected to see at least half the membership in possesion of a -34 & 34P.

To my knowledge there never was a 34 manual published for the M37 family. Instead, they published the 9-8030 manual which includes some 34-level information such as adjusting the valves and other stuff.
Paul at the Power Wagon Museum might have more info.
I've got a 34P manual included on my M37 CD (which, oddly enough, did not include the 8030 manual-I picked that one up from the MVPA National in Portland).

Can you scan and post the pages from your 34P that list the spot light info?
