Hello all, my first question... I did search
In researching my trucks to add them to the registry I developed a question. The engine number on my running M37 is as follows.
-P23-48306- (the - actually represents a 5 pointed Military looking star stamped into the block, there are three of them.) So it's
"Star" P23 "Star" 48306"Star".... any idea what this is? Outwardly it looks identical to the T245.... engine in my Parts truck.
Thanks

That's going to be a Plymouth engine that was swapped into your truck. My current engine starts with "PI" for Plymouth Industrial. Your's may be a 218 but I'll have to look it up.
...back..
It's a Plymouth Cranbrook car engine and is a 217.8 CID. There are a few differences like the oil filler tube is press in instead of screw in, etc.

I was just out comparing my two M37's trying to decide what was different. The pressed in filler tube caught my eye, and now you back it up, I appreciate that. The previous owner said it had been rebuilt. It runs great, (hot oil pressure is low) but I guess if I invest any $$$ it should maybe be in the T245 engine in my other truck. Maybe a good winter project, freshen the correct engine. Maybe sell the runner to someone who needs one.

elbow deep already, and sinking fast.
I have the same plan. I already found a military engine for mine and will switch it out after I finish my restoration. The current engine is running good so there's no burning reason to change it.
