right hand side pto??

Post by TOM R »

ok well i finaly had gotten a nos pto housing and it looked identicle to the old one so we transfered all the gears over and it all looked fine except the idler gear when installed hits the housing and i could not figure it out, then today I was reviewing the ord manual again and I noticed it said the pin with castle nut instals from the rear and the nut is on the front side, well theres my problem the housing i have is machined backwards where this pin goes in,so my castle nut is on the rear side when the pin is installed and the raised section the bearings press against is also cast to the rear instead of the front

after talking with mr. talbert (thanks again very helpful man) he figures it is possibly either some sort of right hand pto to run something off the back or a civilian pto, so i am gonna try to talk to the seller about it but what the heck would you run off the back of this truck? is this some rare oddball housing or just not for an m37 any ideas? :?:

Didn't the xm wrecker run a rear driven PTO for the boom winch? XM708 has his dumper-maybe his PTO runs out back.... Ed, you out there?
