soft to web straps...

To all canvas cab top connoisseur's, here is today's question:While installing my M37 soft top, for the first time, I notice the provision of strap loops in both the rear tubular piece which supoorts the rear of the top, and also loops on top of the windshield frame...But someone ( it must have been done in NATO) welded a cover piece over the windshield loops, and now I can't install the straps ! What in God's name did they do that for? Shall I break out my grinder? Erect an effigy doll of Mr. Ben Laden to shoot at ?

at least you have yours someone cut ours off when they installed the hard top

just one more thing for me to make up and weld if we ever use the soft top

Mine has one of the front loops. Some idjit cut a "slot" in the top of the windshield frame to accommodate an electric wiper motor on the driver's side. Of course, the strap loop went with it.

Well now that I have grinded the weld tabs off, and destroyed one of them doing it, I shall : take down the Ben Laden poster form the firing range, order a replpacement "windshield top loop strap receptor"; I'm sure John Midwest's Machine Shop and otherwise impossible things to get service will have them ? !
