A Good Friday

Post by HingsingM37 »

So having the day off I decided to spend a few hours on the Dodge before getting things ready at the house for our Easter celebration. I now have officially taken my truck off "life support".
The temporary fuel IV set up for test running and jumper wires for the ignition are gone. My fuel pump is now hooked to the fuel tank and my ignition switch and is hard wired. YESTERDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 4 YEARS MY TRUCK WAS STARTED FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT :D . I could not resist, so I removed the jack stands as well. It is now sitting on the ground. Having no brakes yet other than my parking brake, I put her in low and backed it up three feet under its own power. I still had the jumper cables from the batteries on the garage floor to the battery box so I could only go so far. It was also raining out so I did not rig it to pull it out of the garage. I put it in 1st and eased her back forward. So far the only glitch is my temp gage is not working. I hit the panel light switch and the eriee red glow of thel amps was fantastic! After all this time it seemed like a dream. I posted some new pics in my album :)

It is always a great feeling when they move under their own power for the first time...even if it's only a few feet. I bet your still grinning from ear to ear! Good job. Glad to hear it is comming together for you.

Even better Saturday

I got my two new MT51 Interstate (high CCA version of 22NF) batteries today. I installed them. Now it could move free of jumper cables. She fired right up. I let her warm up. I opened the garage door. Climbed in and eased into reverse. Out of the garage she was. Seeing daylight as an assembled chasis for the first time in over 4 years. I ran her up and down the drive several times going only as fast as the service brake would stop me. I did manage to shift into 3rd, then figured I better stop before something stupid happend having no hydraulic brakes yet.. I backed #L245-1042 into the garage wearing a grin. Both of us. Todays events pics are in my album :D

Way to go David!! That's a great feeling isn't it? Now you gotta get some brakes on it so you can stretch it a bit. Congratulations!
