Hard Top?
I found a hard top that appears to be in good shape and was wondering if $250.00 was a good price? Also it has the round/oval rear window. Would this be correct for my year? I've been working mostly on restoring my mutts and haven't really spent alot of time researching the M37.

Re: Hard Top?
The top you describe is not a genuine M37 hard top, but a CCKW top. These were designed to fit the WWII vintage GMC 2 1/2 ton trucks. Upon phasing the CCKW's out, a retrofit kit was fabricated to adapt the tops to the M37's. Be sure you are getting all the hardware or it will not fit correctly. It isn't as good an option as the genuine M37 arctic top, but these sell for $2,000 & up for a nice condition one. $250 for a CCKW top is an OK price if it has all the hardware included.m-11 wrote:I found a hard top that appears to be in good shape and was wondering if $250.00 was a good price? That is the CCKW top that is listed, the needed adapter items are in place that you can see in the picture, however across the front & the passenger side are not visible.m-11 wrote:Here's a link to the listing. http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/1113759634.html

I'm not suggesting the seller has intended a false listing, like many he is probably unaware this particular top was originally designed for another truck. You see a lot of these on M37's, & hey they'll beat canvas in a harsh environment all day long. For the price, not a bad deal at all.
Just so you know, the genuine M37 arctic tops all had a rectangular sliding rear window assembly installed. Neither are any adapters required for a perfect cab tub fit.

Oh yeh, many M37 owners use this top, in fact our shop truck which is an M37B1 has one on it. They are a few inches narrower than the arctic top, thus slightly constricting in the left shoulder area for the driver. Once you are accustomed to it, you just pay it no attention. The main issue in my eyes is the fact you have to be a little careful getting in & out. As far as price, $250 if this one has all adapters & is in good shape, it's a deal I think. If you have to ship it, it would be truck freight which is pricey these days. After all is said & done, if you feel it's reasonable for you is the key.m-11 wrote:MSeriesRebuild,
As you stated this top is from a CCKW but was retro fitted for m37's upon phase out of the CCKW. So than it would be correct to install this on an m-37, right? If this top has all the adapters what would really be a fair offer?
