44 Ford GPW

Post by Monkey Man »

My Wife Ann has just purchased a 44 Ford Jeep, chassis No#GPW-229681 and it appears to have been built on the 18th of October 1944, it does however have a plate on it....

Nomenclature
Trucks 1/4 Ton
USA
M.V. Field Spec. No. 1027
Census No. 6010
Model No M.B.

Is this plate on all Jeeps or just "commonwealth" units and can anyone tell me anything else about this vehicle?
Thanks in advance.....

Regards - MM :-)

www.m38a1.com has a section that talks about evolution of 1/4 ton truck from pre wwII. Briefly talks about production ,has some export info. It might be helpful then again you may already know the stuff.
