On the off chance someone here might know the whereabouts....
I am looking to pick up another M37 and wouldn't mind finding one that I owned years ago. I bought it from the Ellsworth, ME fire dept in 1994. It is painted red, with winch, a nice insulated olive drab canvas soft top. I am counting on it still saying "Ellsworth Fire" on the doors. Anyone seen it? I'd be interested in a buy back or at least knowing its whereabouts. Thanks.

Has he upgraded it? Did he give a reason for the price he is asking? Is this his way of saying he doesn't want to sell it? If he's done work to it, he could easily have that much in it. Not saying he is or isn't reasonable, I have no idea as I know nothing of the owner or the truck. Was just curious as to what may be going on in his mind.1 wrote:The good news: I found the truck.
The bad news: The guy who owns it thinks its worth $30,000. wtf.

Is the truck still in the Ellsworth area? I live close and am often up in the MDI area - could take a look for you.

It is just a plain old M37, nothing special. He had it repainted red and now thinks $30K is ballpark. I told him he would do well to check the internet and see what they typically sell for. I would pay $8K which is more than its worth.
I am curious, what does a $30,000 M37 look like? How many have sold at that price? Under what circumstances would $30K for a red M37 be "reasonable"? I have seen some wacky asking prices, like years ago there was the Imron White M37 with the elephant-hide interior and some nut was asking around $30K for it, but what is the highest price ever actually paid for an M37? This has gotta make my Command Car worth $75K easy.

Have a look at the photo client pages on our website, the orange M37 that is owned by Timken Bearing Co. went out of here at $70,000, if it were today it would be more as the cost of everything has risen since it was done in '06. Of course this truck was rebuilt to better than new specs. with a show quality paint job, check out the slide show of the various stages of the build.
If all he has done is paint it, $30,000 sounds a little far out.
