M37's and M43 at Disney's Hollywood studios

Post by Nickathome »

This may have been posted before, but I don't know so here goes. We just got back from our Disney World trip. On one jaunt to Disney's Hollywood Studios, at the Indiana Jones stunt show exhibit, there is a shell of an M43 and and M37 outside the exhibit, along with a WWII truck of some kind. The two M's had no drivetrain and i don't think they even had engines. They also appeared to have been lowered, obviously done so shoppers could easily see the wares that were for sale in them. The vendor selling trinkets there must've thought I was nuts getting on one knee and looking underneath the trucks. Everyone else in the area was interested in the junk they had for sale and couldn't care less about the trucks.

When we saw the show, there is also an M37 done up to look like a German WWII truck. They also have a dummy M37 that they blow up as a stand in to the M37 in the show. I talked with the guy who plays the director of the stunt show(The show revolves around the making of an Indiana Jones movie) and asked him where they got the M37's, but he wasn't sure and thought they were just props from the movie. Pretty cool to see though anyway. Just thought I'd share this in the event there are some who are not aware of this fact.

Nickathome,

I had to chuckle when you said you looked under the truck because that's exactly what I'd be doing too.

Saw that show and did the same thing (knee to the ground to peep under) in 1998, amazing those trucks are still there 10 years after, under Florida sun and rains.

Disney called me once looking for parts for their stunt truck. They thought it was a "Real" German vehicle and I told them it looked like a Dodge M37. I told them where the ID number was on the frame and never heard back from them. Here are 2 vehicle they have on display. ( I am not to far from Disney and worked on several of their movies and TV series, tough people to work for.)

Yep, those are the trucks we saw. There is also the M43. Funny that they'd think they were real German vehicles. Shows how little the majority of the population knows about these trucks.
