Just For Fun

Post by Lifer »

Okay, gang! Here are some tried and true adages in somewhat more formal English. See if you can translate them. ;)

1. Embellished cosmetic perspective consists of unadorned compliance with that with which a harmoniously resplendent visage executes.

2. Should the espadrille be of sufficient magnitude as to ensure satiate conformity to the pedal extremities, don it.

3. The most infinetestimal representational token of pecuniary substance, when preserved for posterity, is as the minutest of commonly perceived financial instruments acquired through veracious exertion.

4. Aoristically calibrated chronometry is of non-protracted duration for any bipedal primate of the genus Homo.

5. The sole socially pertinent esconcement for an adult of feminine gender is of domiciliary definition.

Have fun, y'all!

1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
2. If the shoe fits, wear it.
3. A penny saved is a penny earned.
5. A womans place is in the home.

Still working on #4. Trying to figure these without grabbing the dictionary. "Aoristically" has me stymied for the moment. Thanks for the challenge Lifer!

Keep up the good work, Dave. So far you've got a "B" on the quiz. I'm sure you'll figure out #4. :)

Nice job! That's what I just came up with, as well. I finally broke down and did some research.

Man, I would have never got the other four, but they become obvious when translated. Really impressive job, DaveO.
