Re: Hello…..

Hi Jacob,

Nice truck to start out with! Looks like it is pretty well all there. That is one heck of a bumper though. What are your plans with the truck?
Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Re: Guns & Gas Tanks

I think you will find the differences between Canadian and US versions of the M37 are mainly limited to engine and transmission differences. I believe the air cleaner and elbow is the same between US/Can versions. I have a spare elbow off a Canadian truck if you want measurements. Any pictures for u...

Re: 1954 M37 rebuild thread

Looks good. Are the thermal diffusers ties to anything specific or do they just dissipate engine heat from under the hood? With the hemi under the hood, heat removal is the objective. They will probably help some with the heat after shutdown, but I imagine with the mechanical fan and the open under...

Re: Military Vinyl Decals

Nice! Decals are always a nice touch.

I recently picked up a set of repro Canadian decals for my truck, but I'm a long way from being ready to apply them!

Re: M37 "Brutus"

Looks great! Now, is that a Canadian military 251 or a civilian/ industrial? I see you have the 4 row pulley on there, are you planning to use the big 100 amp alternator too? I bet you will find the larger engine with the added power makes the truck more enjoyable to drive, while still being pretty...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Ok, crossmember work is just about done. Just have to finish painting the lower portion, and then bolt it in. 60ADB5D4-85FE-499E-847F-8091EED36958.jpeg In the meantime, I’ve started to put the springs back on the rear. I had to look up how they install, as the second leaf has a curl that goes toward...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Two steps forward, one step back... Turns out the new seal is not working. I moved the axle around the shop trying to organize things, and it is leaking, about as much as before. Looks like I will be opening it back up again and trying something else. Oh well, better to find out now rather than when...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Thanks Gary I'm with you on that John. I thought that while it might be fun to get a big rivet gun and try doing hot rivets... I feel a lot better about bolts for the one fact that I know what I'm doing when it comes to bolts, and it is a lot easier to make sure that I have done it up correctly. I s...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Alright, well a year on and a few things have moved ahead. 2020 was very busy with little time to spare for working on the truck, but I do feel some forward progress was made at least. -The leaky rear axle pinion seal was replaced using a modern seal set into the old carrier. It was a bit of a job t...

Also, be sure to wear eye protection. A good friend of mine lost his eye from one of those springs.

Re: 2021 ROLL CALL-PLEASE CHECK IN!

Still here, still working on the truck! Very very slowly. Haven’t updated my build thread in a year since often there’s such little progress. Now that everything here is thawing out, I should get out to the shop a bit more.
